The Process
Your clear aligner journey begins with a digital scan of your teeth, creating a precise 3D image of your smile. Using this scan, we develop a personalised treatment plan and design custom aligners to gradually move your teeth into their ideal positions. You’ll wear each set as directed, progressing through your aligners while we monitor your treatment and smile transformation along the way.
Digital Impression or Traditional Mold
Depending on the provider, your dentist may use a digital scanner or traditional molds to create a detailed impression of your teeth. This impression is used to design a series of aligners that will gradually move your teeth into the desired position.
Custom Aligner Fabrication
Using advanced computer software, your dentist will design a series of aligners that represent the gradual movements your teeth need to make to achieve proper alignment. These aligners are custom-made for your mouth and are typically made from clear, BPA-free plastic material.
Wearing the Aligners
Once the aligners are ready, you will begin wearing them according to your dentist’s instructions. Each set of aligners is worn for about 1-2 weeks before being replaced with the next set in the series. You will need to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing.
Progress Checks
Throughout your treatment, you will have periodic check-up appointments with your dentist or orthodontist to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments. They may provide you with several sets of aligners at each visit to ensure your treatment stays on track.
Completion and Retention
Once you have completed wearing all sets of aligners, your dentist will evaluate the results to determine if any further adjustments are needed. In some cases, additional refinement aligners may be required to fine-tune the alignment of your teeth. After the active treatment phase is complete, you may be instructed to wear a retainer to maintain the new position of your teeth.
