Porcelain and Composite Veneers

Transform Your Smile
A beautiful smile can make a lasting impression. If you are unhappy with the colour, shape, size or alignment of your teeth, veneers can provide a minimally invasive way to improve the appearance of your smile.
At Ashmore Smiles, we offer porcelain and composite veneers, with treatment carefully planned around your natural smile, facial features and individual goals.
What Are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin layers of tooth-coloured material placed over the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. They can be used to address a range of cosmetic concerns while maintaining a natural-looking result.
Veneers may be suitable for teeth that have:
- Discolouration or staining
- Minor chips or fractures
- Uneven or worn edges
- Small gaps
- Irregular shapes or proportions
- Minor cosmetic alignment concerns
- Teeth that appear too small or uneven
Your dentist will assess your teeth and gums to determine whether veneers are appropriate for you.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are custom-made restorations created to closely replicate the appearance of natural tooth enamel. They are designed specifically for your smile, including the shape, colour and proportions of your teeth.
Porcelain is a strong and highly aesthetic material that can provide excellent colour stability and a natural appearance when properly maintained.
Porcelain veneers may be an option for patients looking for a long-term cosmetic restoration with a highly polished, natural-looking finish.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers are created directly on the teeth using tooth-coloured composite resin. The material is carefully shaped and sculpted to improve the appearance of the teeth before being polished.
One of the advantages of composite veneers is that treatment can often be completed more quickly than porcelain veneers, sometimes within a single appointment depending on the number of teeth being treated.
Composite veneers can also be easier to modify or repair if they become chipped or damaged.
Porcelain vs Composite Veneers
Both options can improve the appearance of your smile, but they have different characteristics.
Your dentist will help you decide which material is most appropriate based on your teeth, aesthetic goals, lifestyle and budget.
Porcelain veneers
- Custom-made for your individual smile
- Highly aesthetic and natural-looking
- Excellent colour stability
- Strong and durable when properly cared for
- Usually require laboratory fabrication
Composite veneers
- Applied directly to the teeth
- Can often be completed in fewer appointments
- Generally more conservative depending on the case
- Can be repaired or modified more easily
Consultation, Smile Design & Treatment
Your treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation. We assess your teeth, gums, bite and overall oral health and discuss what you would like to change about your smile.
Where appropriate, photographs, digital scans or other records may be taken to help plan your treatment.
We consider factors such as tooth shape, colour, facial proportions, gum position and your natural bite when designing your smile. Our goal is not simply to create straighter or whiter-looking teeth, but to achieve a result that complements your individual features.
Composite Veneer Process
For composite veneers, the tooth surface is prepared where required before composite resin is carefully applied and shaped directly onto the tooth. The material is then hardened, refined and polished to achieve the desired shape and finish.
Porcelain Veneer Process
For porcelain veneers, the teeth are prepared according to the individual treatment plan before digital scans or impressions are taken. Your veneers are then custom-made before being carefully tried in and assessed for fit, colour and appearance.
Once the final result has been approved, the veneers are securely bonded to your teeth.
Porcelain veneers generally offer excellent durability and colour stability, while composite veneers may require more maintenance or polishing over time. Regular dental visits allow us to monitor your veneers and the health of your natural teeth.
Are Veneers Right for You?
Veneers are not suitable for everyone. Your dentist will assess the health and structure of your teeth, gums and bite before recommending treatment.
In some cases, alternatives such as professional teeth whitening, orthodontic treatment, dental bonding or crowns may be more appropriate.
At Ashmore Smiles, we take a personalised approach to cosmetic dentistry and will explain your options clearly before treatment begins.

I’m 61 and never needed a dentist, then cracked a tooth. Doctor was amazing. She found I needed a couple of fillings Which scared me a bit as I had only heard horror stories about pain incurred, so was pretty nervous. No pain, very gentle and kind and explained everything as she went I hadn’t realised how sensitive my teeth Must’ve got - But now there is no sensitivity either So I must’ve needed the fillings Going back tomorrow for my last filling and from then on I will definitely be visiting every six months for a checkup! Thank you, teamPosted on Google![]()

Ashmore Smiles has always been responsive to my needs and explained well the procedures. I attended a different dentist for 15 years but when I had a dental emergency they couldn't find a timely appointment to even have a look at it. Ashmore Smiles went out of their way to fit me in and later even called to check on me when they were renovating their clinic. 5 stars!Posted on Google![]()
